Betfred Championship Round Up | Round 7

Here’s what happened in Round 7 of the Betfred Championship…

Ryan Lannon helped Oldham return to winning ways with a last-gasp try which completed a stunning Roughyeds comeback and ended Sheffield Eagles’ four-match win streak.

The Eagles initially raced into a comfortable lead, only for Oldham to hit back and made the closing stages of the game a real set-to, before Lannon powered over for the match-winner.

Dewsbury Rams bounced back with a victory against Workington Town in Cumbria. Seven different try scorers crossed for a rampant Rams on Sunday afternoon, who made it four wins from six.

Down in the capital, league leaders London Broncos maintained their unbeaten run with a big win over Salford. Epel Kapinias bagged a hat-trick, whilst Connor O'Beirne and Neil Tchamambe completed doubles.

There was a close contest between Rochdale Hornets and Midlands Hurricanes, with just one try separating the sides. In a thrilling to and fro encounter, Aidan McGowan produced a decisive score for the Canes to ensure victory on the road.

Newcastle Thunder secured their first home win of the 2026 Championship season, with a convincing display over Keighley Cougars.

Over at South Leeds Stadium, Barrow Raiders survived a late Hunslet scare to claim the two points.

The Raiders were 21-2 up courtesy of tries from Ryan King, Luke Cresswell and Curtis Teare, as well as Ellis Archer’s successful penalty goal and Brad Walker’s one-pointer.

Hunslet, however, went on to scored four quick-fire tries in the last quarter of their Round 7 clash to set up on nervy finish.

It wasn’t enough in the end though, as the Cumbrians clung on.

Dayon Sambou was the hat-trick hero in Halifax’s enjoyable win over North Wales Crusaders. ‘Fax posted 50 points over the visitors at The Shay on Sunday.

Finally, Doncaster produced a superb victory on home soil as they saw off Widnes Vikings at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Reece Lyne opened the scoring on his return from injury for Richard Horne's side, and another try from James Glover saw the hosts comfortably ahead at the break.

Titus Gwaze and Edene Gebbie added second half tries and left the Dons to see out a comfortable victory as they climbed up to second place in the table.
